Dubai (PlantAndEquipment.com) - The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) has inked a deal with Nafith Egypt Logistics to create and run a digitally controlled truck yard at Sokhna Port, with an investment of $21 million.
When fully operational, the facility will occupy 167,000 square meters and be capable of handling up to 1,100 vehicles each day. It will have a designated space for organizing truck operations and controlling vehicles arriving and exiting the port.
The initiative would include digital truck-management technology into Egypt's Nafeza single-window commerce platform, enabling truck movements to be scheduled in real time. The system is designed to minimize congestion at Sokhna Port and increase cargo movement between the port, logistical facilities, and interior destinations.
The development is part of SCZONE's larger initiative to modernize port and logistics infrastructure via private-sector investment. Sokhna Port is an important part of the economic zone's Red Sea logistics network, serving industrial developments near Ain Sokhna as well as goods traveling along the Suez Canal route.
